October Update

Thanks to all who came to our Open House! We especially appreciated Sam bringing in his large monitor to enhance our viewing of the Minecraft ancient civilization his group created. Many thanks again to Davis and Guy who inspired the use of Minecraft as a way to explore how ancient civilizations lived and developed. The brochures available to all certainly were a popular way for students and parents to get a quick look at the commonalities and differences of the ancient river civilizations.

We were happy to share our biome research as it is through studying our world and its habitats that we then begin to explore how the people, plants, and animals thrive in that environment. In history and literature we ask ourselves, "How does where you live affect how you live?" and in science we ask, "How can we explain and understand the various biomes around the world?" Our interdisciplinary research will culminate in a Biome Fair in the spring.

Our water research in science is proving to be enlightening, especially as we prepare to go down the Cahaba River on October 27th!
